Biochips - micro-laboratories built with the same techniques of microelectronics - have started to hit the market, with the potential to change the shape and accuracy of health checks.
These emerging devices now had a radical impulse, which promises to facilitate and further cheapen their manufacture and testing of new applications.
Instead of ordering the industry a microlaboratory for each application, Krishna Bhargava and colleagues at the University of Southern California, USA, have developed a platform that allows biochips are assembled as if Lego toys.
