LIFI concept is not exactly new. For some time investigators attempting to use systems that enable the light to transfer data, instead of radio waves used by WiFi.
And scholars have started to produce some interesting results for this technology. One of the most recent reports, told the Xinhua News, is a survey prepared by Chi Nan, a professor of information technology at Fudan University, located in Shanghai, China.
Nan and his team managed to get four computers remain connected to the web via a LED 1 watt lamp, reaching transfer rates of up to 150 megabits per second.
For the researcher, the LIFI is much more efficient than the wireless standard that currently use - first because the system under development would not need millions of antennas, which are expensive and take up a lot of space, around the world.
