I have had a lot of problems with connecting LCDs to my devices. Initially, it was a raspberry pi and later an Arduino. With the instructions you provided I can see that your ideas are more detailed than others I tried. I am already in the process of purchasing a new Arduino (I already ruined the other one). I can see you stated the type of LCD to buy. I’ll also be looking forward for any other information regarding the LCDs especially the various types and where one can get them.
